Comparison of different resolutions

We don't need 300dpi resolution for a convincingly sharp print. We can achieve this with our printing technology even at 150 dpi. Discover a comparison of images with different resolutions in this article.
Marvel at test prints
We have printed the same image in six different resolutions and can therefore show you that you can obtain images with a resolution of 150dpi in amazingly good quality. As a minimum, we recommend 72dpi. Our webshop also calculates the maximum possible formats with this resolution. For more information on how large you can have your image data printed, read the blog post /en/blog/how-big-can-I-print-my-photo
300 dpi resolution

A resolution of 300dpi is absolutely excellent, but not absolutely necessary. This will result in a very large image file, which may take a little longer to upload to our webshop. However, the printed image will impress with its excellent image sharpness.
240 dpi resolution

At a resolution of 240dpi, the printed image is also convincingly sharp and shows no difference to the 300dpi image above.
150 dpi resolution

At a resolution of 150 dpi, there is still no recognisable difference in quality compared to 300 dpi or 240 dpi. We can therefore also print images with a resolution of 150 dpi in very good quality and you will be delighted.
100 dpi resolution

With a resolution of 100dpi, a point has now been reached where there is a slightly visible difference in quality. But even with 100dpi you can have your pictures printed by us without any concerns and you will enjoy the pictures. If you look at the images up close, a small blurring may be visible. However, as large-format images are usually viewed from a distance, this can be virtually ignored.
72 dpi resolution

A resolution of 72dpi is the minimum we need for a "good" image. At 72dpi you can already see clearer differences in quality compared to the higher resolutions above. Our webshop calculates your maximum possible image format with exactly this number of dpi. If you view the image on the wall from a distance, which is usually the case in reality, it is also possible to print images with only 72 dpi. However, the final print quality also depends on the image motif. A landscape photo can be better printed in low quality than an image with strong contours, such as an architectural photo.
40 dpi resolution

An image with a resolution of only 40dpi clearly shows that the quality is not sufficient and the image is pixelated. We recommend that you do not have images printed with only 40dpi. In general, it is not recommended to have images produced below 72dpi.
We check your image data
As already mentioned, our webshop at http://www.printolino.ch We analyse your image data and calculate the maximum possible format based on 72 dpi. We also check all your image data manually when you place your order. So you can always be sure that you only receive the best images. If an image is not good enough, we will contact you in advance. We don't print just to print, we only print if we know that you will enjoy the pictures.
